Atlas of Sound is an ongoing multimedia project inspired by the relationships in the locations we inhabit. It is lush and melodic, and at times subversive. Each album is written on the location provided by the coordinates and is inspired by the the relationships found there. Each installment comes with a Field Atlas full of stories, pictures, artwork and poetry from the given location, inviting you to immerse yourself in the ecosystem and hear what it feels like to breathe the air there.

“It’s as close as you’ll get to being there without actually being there, and it’s yet another intriguing project from Nilsson that touches upon themes of experience, memory, and interconnectedness.” Dave Sumner “The Best Jazz On Bandcamp, April 2022”

Release Date: 04.22.22

The first release from Elsa Nilsson’s Atlas of Sound series inspired by human connection to locations of the natural world. Lush and melodic, at times subversive, Nilsson’s trio recording invites listeners into dense woody thickets where breezes idle and sounds of footsteps disappear into layers of pine needle.
